John R. Davis, Jr., Principal
John is a Kansas City area native raised in Liberty, Missouri. After graduating valedictorian of his high school class, he received a full ride academic scholarship to the University of Missouri-Columbia where he studied civil engineering with an emphasis in construction management. John earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and graduated with General Honors in 2002.
John immediately embarked on a career path in construction management accepting a position with Goodwin Brothers Construction (St Louis, MO) as Project Engineer. Goodwin Brothers specialized in heavy civil construction projects and John was integrally involved in project management of public and private construction projects including levees, bridges and wastewater treatment plants ranging from a few hundred thousand to over eighty million in contract value.
In 2004, John joined J. Price Architecture, Inc. (Liberty, MO) as Construction Administrator where he oversaw the construction of projects designed by the firm and administered AIA contracts on behalf of project owners. His position with the firm exposed him to real estate development and John was intrigued by the challenges and opportunities of the industry.
John obtained his real estate broker’s license in 2006 and accepted a position as Project Manager with Star Development Corporation (Liberty, MO). His educational background combined with firsthand experience in design and construction facilitated John’s rise in the local development industry; he quickly built a reputation as one of the most competent and proficient project managers in the area. Working in conjunction with a Martindale-Hubbell AV rated attorney, John also amassed a wealth of knowledge in real estate law which parallels that of many legal counselors.
John’s passion for real estate development and his vehement work ethic, combined with his unique breadth of experience, technical expertise, legal comprehension, and business instincts led to his appointment to Vice President of Star Development. In addition to overseeing daily operations, John personally managed all of the company’s development activities, specializing in complicated and legally intensive projects. He implemented multiple redevelopments which utilized public financing incentives, including tax increment financing and community improvement districts, to clear blight and foster economic growth in Kansas City area communities.
While many would have taken solace in making it to the top of a real estate firm as progressive and dynamic as Star Development, an unyielding entrepreneurial spirit compelled John to resign in 2012 and establish Foresight Real Estate Services as the flagship company for his ongoing real estate ventures. FORESIGHT is aptly named because it is John’s vision of the future; a future in which he will continue to play a dominant role in the Kansas City real estate market and beyond.
